Someone reported seeing a person with a rifle and body armor

(Cambridge, MA)  --  Cambridge Police have cleared the scene at the campus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology after someone reported seeing a person with a rifle and body armor. 

A search of the Main Group Building of MIT did not find the gunman.  The campus was on lockdown during the search. 

Police say the initial call was unfounded and there is no threat to public safety.
